Starting October 2023, Podium is looking for Programme creator Podium International (student assistent).
We are Podium, an enthusiastic group of HU students from all fields of studies. We organise professional events with a social and cultural focus, on themes that matter. Talk shows, film screenings, theatre plays, quizzes – you name it. Our events take place at HU but also at other cultural hot spots in Utrecht, and there’s always interesting guest speakers and talented artists involved.
Are you looking for a well-paid job (about €15 euros an hour) in which you can create great events? Keep reading!
You will be part of a fun, diverse team of 6 employees and 10 student assistants in a positive work environment. Working at Podium is flexible, varied and provides space for personal development. You don’t have to be an expert already, as long as you are motivated to work, and happy to take on responsibilities. Podium organises both Dutch and English spoken events. We’re currently looking for a programme creator for the English spoken events.
What will you be doing?
- You will help develop a series of events, such as Film & the Future or Study Sounds, where you will have the opportunity to help shape the content. Sometimes there is also room to come up with your own programme ideas.
- As a programme creator, you will sometimes be on stage yourself as a presenter or interviewer. Therefore it’s important that you like to be in front of an audience or are willing to develop your public speaking-skills through workshops we offer.
- You will participate in the production, preparation and execution of the events.
- You will be an ambassador for Podium and help to get as many HU-students as possible enthusiastic about our events.
What we offer:
- A good salary! The standard rate for student assistants is ±€15,- gross per hour; the exact amount depends on your year of study.
- The most fun side job for HU students where creativity is key.
- Great team with students and staff.
- Fun team workshops where you develop in your work together with your colleagues.
You:
- Study at Hogeschool Utrecht.
- Are available for 8 hours per week, for at least one year. Starting no later than October.
- Are fluent in English and have strong communication skills.
- Can spread your hours flexibly throughout the week. (you will be asked to participate in meetings during the day and attend events during the evenings)
- Know what is going on among international students and have creative event ideas to match.
- Are precise and keen to develop your skills in organising events from A to Z.
- Enjoy being on a stage or learning to do so. If you already have experience as a presenter, singer, musician or similar, this is a plus.
- Have heart for culture and social issues.
- Find it important that every student at HU feels welcome at the Podium events.
Enthusiastic?
Mail your CV and a cover letter to program coordinators Iris Nieuwenhuizen and Josien Oudemans no later than Sunday, September 17, 2023 via podium@hu.nl. You will hear on Monday September 18th whether you will be invited for an interview. Interviews are scheduled on Thursday, September 21, and will be conducted in English. Want to know more? Take a look at our Website, Facebook or Instagram or send an email with questions to podium@hu.nl. Or even better, check out our calendar and visit one of our events to prepare for your application!
The Podium team wants to reflect HU as much as possible. We therefore encourage students of all genders, ethnic backgrounds, educations, orientations and beliefs to apply.
