Crash Courses is back, bigger and better than ever! Unleash your artistic side and pick one of six creative workshops to explore for one evening at Parnassos Cultural Centre.

Want to try a new hobby or develop your artistic skills under the guidance of an expert teacher? This is your chance! We start the evening at the Parnassos bar and break out into separate course groups. For €5 you can join one of the courses, and enjoy a free drink at the Parnassos bar with newly made friends afterwards.

If you want to sign up for a full 5, 7, 10, 12 or 15 week course, you’ll get a whopping 50% discount off of the course fee if you’re a HU (or UU) student. And as a special bonus, the night will end with a live jazz performance, a free mocktail and a lottery for all attendees at the event with the chance to win a 120 euro voucher for Parnassos. This covers the fee for almost any course!

Singing Disney

Spoken word
Spoken word is a performing art between poetry and performance, leaving reason behind and discovering your creativity. In this workshop you will learn to write spoken word pieces and to recite them.

Burlesque
You might know the wonderful performing art burlesque from the Moulin Rouge in Paris. Burlesque is often an exaggeration of an expression, like shyness, clumsiness or feeling incredibly sexy. Charlotte’s Burlesque classes are tasteful and humorous and are held in a safe environment where you are free to develop your own skills.

Drawing like Lichtenstein
Always wanted to learn how to paint like the iconic pop art painters of the 60’s? During the crash course Drawing like Lichtenstein you will learn the ins and outs of his techniques and pop art. You will have time to practice with the techniques and to create your own Lichtenstein.

Photo walking tour
During the photo walking tour you learn to photograph with a completely new perspective. We use the first half hour for theory and inspiration. Then we get to work with the practice and we all go outside together! We go out together to take pictures in the city of Utrecht.

Crash Courses is produced by Podium and Parnassos Cultural Centre. During these events, we offer a variety of artistic courses that you can choose from. Whether you want to try something completely new, or want to rekindle an old hobby – during Crash Courses, you can you can immerse yourself in the wonderful world of the arts! We always start the evening with an exciting introductory kick-off, and share our experiences with a drink afterwards.

Tickets

Tickets can only be purchased by UU or HU students. Proof of enrolment or a student card needs to be shown when asked upon arrival at the Crash Courses. Your ticket costs 5 euros and gives you the opportunity to join the event and have a free drink afterwards. The ticket page is in Dutch. To purchase tickets, you sign up with a free Parnassos account. You decide how many tickets you want to purchase and then you click: ‘naar betalen’. ‘Student tarief’ (student price) and ‘normal tarief’ (regular price) are the same.

Language
The primary language at this event will be English. All students are welcome!

Accessibility
Parnassos Cultural Centre is wheelchair accessible. Both an elevator and a wheelchair-friendly toilet are present. The building of Parnassos is a monumental building, so if you have any worries or needs that might prevent you from participating in this activity, let us know by sending a message to podium@hu.nl. We will try to accommodate as best as we can.
