You’re trying to make the most of your student life: living on your own, making new friends, exploring your student city and beyond. The last thing you want to do is worry about your monthly expenses or having to miss out on experiences because they’re out of your budget. Still, it’s a struggle many can relate to. So let’s talk about it!

Once your salary or student loan is deposited on your bank account it can feel like the world is at your feet. On the other hand, you might also know the daunting sight of an empty bank account and having to resort to eating instant noodles until the end of the month. You know it’s important to spend your money wisely—but how?! During this evening we will be exploring money matters from several angles. Why aren’t we taught how to budget at school? How do you decide what purchase is worth your money? How can you create healthy financial behaviour?

Together with hosts Tirsa and Agnes we will examine the role money plays in our lives, how to get comfortable with talking about money and which budgeting tips and tricks actually work.

During this edition we’ll speak with experts on money matters. During the event and the after talk you can ask them anything you’d like!

• Our first guest is Evie Pasmans, who works at De Geldzaak. This is a non-profit organisation that helps citizens of Utrecht with their financial questions. She will discuss how to get a proper overview of your income and expenses and what to do when you feel like your tight budget is limiting your social life.

Ever have the feeling that some things in life only happen to you, and nobody can relate to your experiences? Let’s talk about it! In this event series by Podium, we start up conversations about challenges we face when transitioning to life as an adult. By sharing our stories and approaching them with humour we might discover that we have more in common than we think.

The primary language at this event will be English. The Winkel van Sinkel is accessible with an (electronic) wheelchair/mobile scooter via the side entrance with a ramp. There is a wheelchair friendly toilet in the Grand Café and on the first floor. It is also possible to take the elevator to the first floor.
