After a week full of deadlines, group projects, and screen time, your head feels like it’s full of pixels. Everything seems to revolve around performing, planning, and scrolling. But when was the last time you built something that wasn’t digital?
In this Pop-Up, we’ll be working with LEGO, the iconic toy you’ll never be too old for. Get out of your mind and get those hands to work! During this Pop-Up, you’ll create a BrickHead: a mini-version of yourself, completed with defining features, quirks, and superpowers. Or you could turn your roommate, your lover, or that teacher into a supervillain… Anything goes; it’s your alter (L)ego!
The session will be facilitated by Roloff de Jeu, animation lecturer at HKU. Roloff about this passion: “The possibilities with Lego are endless. There are so many different bricks in every color of the rainbow, and new ones are added every year. For me, building is relaxing and energizing. I sometimes fall asleep with ideas for new constructions. And nothing is as satisfying as a design that finally works.”

About the instructor
Roloff de Jeu is an instructor in the animation and film programs at HKU University of the Arts Utrecht. In his spare time, he enjoys delving into the world of LEGO, building and photographing his creations through his own Studio Nopjes. For this event, he has enough pre-sorted bricks ready for an hour of pure (L)egocentrism.
