Pop-Up _ Blackout Poetry

POP UP | Blackout poetry

  • Tue 3 Mar 11:00 - 15:00
  • Food court PL97

Sometimes you don’t need to add anything to create something new. In this Pop Up, you’ll discover what happens when you choose to leave words out.

We’ll be working with blackout poetry: a way of writing where you don’t add, but remove. You work with an existing text, a magazine or a book, and by crossing out words, something new emerges. Sometimes funny, sometimes strange, sometimes unexpected… and always personal.

The great thing about blackout poetry? It’s very accessible. You don’t need to “know how to write,” you don’t have to invent anything, and there’s no right or wrong outcome. The words are already there, you just choose what stays.

Perfect as a creative offline break between classes or group projects, to give your brain a different kind of workout. So come by the cafeteria at PL97, join in, and leave whenever you like. Five minutes of focused crossing-out, or an hour pondering a single word, it’s all welcome.
