Creating Light Art with the Happytron
In 2008, visual artist Jan Willem Campmans faced a frustrating problem: waiting for the paint on his canvas to dry. For someone with mild ADHD, quite a challenge…
Searching for a quicker solution, he discovered a new way of painting — using light, projection, and technology instead of physical paint. Together with creative programmer Tim Walther, he developed the Happytron: an intuitive tool that lets you draw and paint live with light using a tablet and projector.
Originally designed for solo artists, the Happytron has evolved into a versatile medium that can now be used by multiple creators at once. From festivals and workshops to professional art projects, the Happytron quite literally brings light art to life.
