[I’ll think of an introduction later]
Why do that task now if you can also do it later? You keep on postponing and before you know it you’re overcome by guilt and anxiety, stressing to get it done at the very last moment. Does this ring a bell? You’re not alone!
Procrastination is one of the most common challenges when it comes to studying and working. Even though we know the benefits of finishing a to-do as soon as possible, it often feels easier to avoid it. During this edition of Creativity Boost we’re going to take a closer look at our behaviour with the valuable insights of an expert. Karen Visser is a professional organiser and author of two books on procrastination. In an interview with a student, Karen will tell us about different types of procrastination and the internal and external factors that play a role in them. Of course she will also give useful tips and tricks to deal with this time consuming problem.
Inspired by her words, we’ll break out into workshop groups and explore creative ways to break the cycle and simply get started! Afterwards we’ll reconvene in the Parnassos bar to socialise and share what we’ve learned. With a drink on the house of course!

Workshops
Mindfulness: Play with your thoughts
While you might be eager to get rid of procrastination quickly, true change comes from paying attention to your behaviour and listening carefully to your mind. During this workshop, we’ll engage in playful exercises designed to help you take charge of your thoughts. No previous experience with mindfulness is needed – just a bit of courage to dive right in!
Creative thinking: Change your perspective
Do you find yourself caught in an endless loop of procrastination? Don’t panic – a change of perspective can help you break free of unwanted habits. During this workshop we’ll uncover where your tendency to procrastinate comes from and what you can do about it. You’ll leave with personalised tools and an action plan that integrates creative thinking into your daily routine, helping you to stay motivated long after the workshop ends!
Drawing: Focus on the process
Putting off tasks and appointments can really get in the way of doing the things you love. In this workshop, we create space for experimentation without focusing on the end goal. You discover what can happen when you allow your creativity to run wild. Don’t worry – you won’t have to do it alone. Working in a group makes it harder to give in to the temptation to procrastinate. Let’s boost the creative process with our collective energy!
Theatre: Flip the script
We all know snapping out of the procrastination cycle can be tough, so let’s flip the script and have some fun with it! In this workshop, we’ll use improvisation exercises and theatre games to dive deeper into what procrastination looks like. Along the way we’ll discover how to laugh at ourselves, which can be a big help once you get stuck!
