What better way to feel at home than preparing and eating food together? That’s why we’re hosting a special edition of Food for Talk during the Feel at Home Festival!

Upgrade your lunch and treat your taste buds to some freshly prepared dishes. You can even learn to prepare them yourself by joining the cooking workshop. This is your chance to connect with fellow students who also get excited about stirring in a steaming pan and a digging in to a full plate.

So would you like to improve your culinary skills and learn to make food from different national cuisines? This afternoon there will be a variety Turkish and Syrian dishes on the menu! With the expert help of students Pinar, Yara, Khadija, Raneem, Selen and Fatima you will be guided through the process of preparing some of their favourite dishes. We will provide all the ingredients and utensils so, don’t worry, you won’t have to bring anything. The ingredients will be sourced locally and in season.

Food for Talk is a series of meetups, organised in a collaboration between Podium, HU HOME and Green Office HU.  These meeting revolve around cooking and food from all corners of the world. For all HU students who love (talking about) food!

The HU HOME project brings refugee students studying at the HU in touch with other HU students to help them feel at home in their class, at the HU and in Dutch society. In this special edition we collaborate with the Green Office HU, the platform for sustainability in education and research of the Hogeschool Utrecht. They raise awareness for sustainability among students and staff by informing, inspiring and activating people with positive energy.

This event is a Language No Problem event so you’re welcome to come, no matter what language you speak. The kitchen is wheel chair accessible and there is a nearby toilet that’s wheelchair accessible. The food will be vegetarian and halal. If you have any worries or needs that might prevent you from participating in this activity, please let us know by sending a message to podium@hu.nl and we will try to accommodate as best as we can.
