The exam period is coming coming up. That means spending long days hunched over your laptop or study books again. To get you through these tough times we thought of a way to help you boost your concentration in style!

Instrumental music is proven to improve your concentration level and make you stay focused for a longer period of time. So we’re inviting local artists into section C of the HU Library to provide instrumental music while you study. Throughout the day you can enjoy performances from three artists playing different genres of music. Let’s get you in the zone and make those exams feel like a walk in the park!

To complete the perfect study atmosphere, we will provide free tea, coffee, and snacks. Drop by and be ready to study like you have never before.

Line up

9:15 – 11:30 Jacco Wynia
12:00 – 14:15 Micha
14:45 – 17:00 .multibeat duo

About the artists

Jacco Wynia is a Dutch neo-classical composer, pianist, and musician. His music sounds intimate, sometimes melancholic but always with a hint of light in it. Through his music he hopes to connect his listeners with themselves and each other. During his Study Sounds performance, expect to hear anything from piano solos and soundscapes, to experimental music with spiritual influences.

MICHA is an up and coming solo artist and song writer who is determined to blur the boundaries between indie an pop music. He just got back from Nashville to work on his debut album and his first singles “Little Man” and “Do Me Like You Do” are generating a fan base on Spotify. For Study Sounds you can expect some layered tunes that create the perfect harmony between poppy and alternative sounds.

.multibeat is a hip hop and producer collective from Utrecht who love to mix genres as long as the beat takes centre stage. They’re on a mission to connect the Dutch hip hop and jazz scenes and have recently collaborated with artists such as GINGE, Noflik, Glimlip, Jelisa, Yasper and Soul Food Horns. For Study Sounds, bass player Thijs van Zutphen and drummer Aron Smit will play a selection of their earlier work. Using improv techniques and live looping to create groovy instrumental beats.
